Hi – during a training session earlier this week the group conversation turned to #N/A results in VLOOKUPS. With this in mind below explains how you can, if required utilise the ISERROR formula.
Basically the ISERROR formula can be used around any other formula that you know will at some point return an error (#N/A, #VALUE!, #REF!, #DIV/0!, #NUM!, #NAME?, or #NULL!). One of the most common formulas that returns errors if a value cannot be found in a range of cells is a VLOOKUP.
Below demonstrates how you can use the ISERROR formula to highlight exceptions.
